NutritionIntroductionI find the study of food and its effects on the body fascinating. I graduated in 1998 from Pepperdine University with a bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science. I was accepted to the dietetic internship program at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. However, after two months into the 12 month program, I decided a profession in dietetics was not the path I wanted to pursue. Although I do not hold the credentials of Registered Dietitian, I still believe in upholding the high standards of the profession. I get frustrated with the amount of misinformation that circulates the media and I'm amazed at the number of people that believe erroneus claims. Therefore, this page provides visitors with reliable sources of science-based nutrition information in hopes to help you identify misinformation and acheive optimal health through nutrition.
This is the offical site of the American Dietetic Association which is the largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. This link directs you to an interior page on their site that contains a list of Nutrition Fact Sheets available in PDF format. These sheets provide useful information on commonly discussed topics and are easy to understand. MyPyramid.gov is a product of the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP), an organization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), used to promote dietary guidelines for all Americans. MyPyramid.gov helps you learn about the different food groups and find a balance between food and physical activity. Please note that MelindaBeth.com does not endorse sponsored ads. |
