Food Storage

Let's Begin

Let's Begin

The following is a list of food groups based on the USDA MyPyramid. Within each food group there are three steps to help you determine the minimum amount of each food group you should store based on the ages and gender of your family members. Following the third step of each food group is an example of my thought process in calculating my family's one year food storage supply. Please note that the recommended amounts are for individuals who get less than 30 minutes of physical activity. If you are a highly active individual or family you would certainly want to store more, but these recommended amounts give you a good start for your food storage supply and would be sufficient for basic survival. I recommend you get some paper, something to write with, and a calculator before you begin. You can always contact me if you have any questions.

Step One: Know your grains.  --->
